Additional Blending Technique Cards from 5 Minute Monday

Image
This card was created by blending ( see here for this technique ) a scale looking background ( I made this using Cricut machine and 7ml Mylar ). You can find masks in the Online Shop Artistic Decorative Masks Butterflies & Flowers Decorative Masks The background colors are Parakeet Party, Orchid Oasis, and Tahitian Tide. After blending a background, I cut some of the coral pieces using the die cuts from the retired Seascape Bundle. The fish came from the same Bundle, I blended it using Sweet Sorbet ink.  Topped it off with a few Faux Sea Glass gems, and some Elegant Faceted gems .  You could recreate this card using the "Seas The Day" Bundle which is currently set to retire at the end of June!  This set is included in Last Chance Product sale ( while supplies last or until the end of June ) This set has so many possibilities I'm almost thinking I need it before it's gone at the end of June! 😉 Let me know if you liked this card, or if you try your own! julie...

5 Minute Monday ~ Creating Beautiful Backgrounds ~ June 13

Image
Today's 5 Minute Monday is all about Creating a beautiful background in less than 5 minutes.  The card below is just one of the many examples of using masks or stencils to create a background filled with interest and appeal.  You can find several masks in my online store ( even some that are reduced right now ), I'll link those below . However for this card I used a technique that requires no mask or stencil... well, it doesn't require you to buy one anyway. You can make it yourself and it's quick & easy.  I used my everyday "go to" circle dies.  You can use whatever circles you have, circle punches, or even just cut circles.  There is a set of circles in my online shop that you can purchase, they are never a waste, they get used all the time when creating cards. It's one of those things I think should be in every paper crafters' tool box.  Stylish Shapes Dies  will provide a nice selection of circles, squares, and banner tags. It would def...

5 Minute Monday~ Oceanfront Part 1 ~ June 06

Image
Today's card is ( as usual ) quick, easy & beautiful! It features the Oceanfront stamp set , and is the first in a few cards that we will create in the coming weeks.  I chose to feature Oceanfront since it's the beginning of summer here and I keep hoping for nice warm weather.  Sunny, waterfront days are days we look forward to here in Eastern Ontario, where our weather can be very cold and wet for the most part of the year.  The Oceanfront stamp set mocks a watercolor effect, and though it looks like it would only really create the one scene, that would be wrong.  Just think outside the box! Here are the stamps included in the set. You can see the stamps that create the the sky, the water, and the sand. Also included are some sea grass, and water weed type images, as well as a few boulder or rock images. Oh and don't forget that little blotch of sandy dots. So we look at the set as only creating what it appears the stamp set is made to create, a water fro...

Paper Adventures ~ Father's Day Tutorial in Your Email!

Image
This Tutorial Went out to the inboxes of my Paper Adventure subscribers today! Be sure to check your email box for the first of a few tutorials for June!  This card is perfect for Dad on Father's Day, or anyone! This greeting card & gift card holder is so awesome! This design is not my original design, I actually bought a card from a market a while back, just so I could see if I could re create the card. I was able to work up some measurements and score lines to get the card to work out for me. The original was just the card holder, I added the card part to it so there was a place to write a message.  Just one of the many reasons to join the Paper Adventures exclusive email newsletter. You can do this at the top and to the right on this page.

A Stormy Week ~

Image
A Stormy Week.... So this happened this past week... I am not sure what other areas this brutal storm affected. I do know that some areas got hit much harder than we did, and my heart goes out to everyone suffering the impacts of this weather event.  Where I live in Ontario, we are definitely not used to this type of weather, the storm came in fast and took all of us by "storm".  The damage was devastating, and many in this area were left with no power for upwards of a week, some are still waiting for the return of power.  The sound of chainsaws has overpowered the birds for the last week, seems there was always a chainsaw lulling in the distance.  Kudos to our Hydro, Road Maintenance, and Emergency crews that have worked so hard to get everyone back to some sense of normality.  So again, I am not sure what you may have experienced for weather, but do hope that everyone is well.  Due the lack of power ~ posts here, card tutorials, and generally anyth...
